Maprosoft will provide a 3D virtual tour of any feature on its maps. Virtual tours provide a much more engaging experience for users. Upon selection of the virtual tour feature, the Maprosoft map seamlessly transforms from 2D to 3D modes and runs the tour using Google Earth*.
*Note: the virtual tour feature requires the Google Earth browser plugin.
If virtual tours are enabled, you will see the following icon at the top of a feature popup window:
The behaviour of the tour depends on the type of feature selected.
- Point features will result in a tour that simple spins around the point. The elevation is set quite low to allow the point to be viewed relatively closely.
- Polygon features will result in a tour that spins around the complete area of the polygon (or union of polygons for multi-polygons). The elevation is set high enough to keep the entire area of the polygon in view.
- Line features will result in a tour that follows the line. The elevation is set quite low to enable the viewer to look along the path being traversed.
